Dundalk Family Receives Free Front Yard Makeover through Miss Utility Contest
This past April during National Safe Digging Month, Miss Utility of Maryland partnered with 98 Rock, Baltimore’s
most-listened-to rock station, and roofing and exteriors contractor Brothers Services, to promote “My Yard Sucks,” a
contest that challenged listeners to produce a short video to make their case for winning thousands of dollars in free
landscaping. During the three-week promotional period, 15 videos were submitted to the station.
The Stack family from Dundalk was the unanimous winner due to the creativity of their video. To start the yard makeover,
member utility owners came out to the Stack family’s home to mark the approximate location of underground facilities
with water soluble paint and flags so that Brothers Services could safely start the renovation.
As you’ll see when you compare this before picture to this one from after the new landscaping was completed, the improvement is striking. Before starting
a project of your own that involves digging, always contact Miss Utility at least two business days in advance at
1-800-257-7777 or 811, or submit an ITIC Lite web request online by clicking here.
