Wayne discussed the importance of school bus safety and being a good representative of your company
when driving near school zones and stopped buses.
MGH Update
- 811 brochure approved and with the printer
- Contractor Nights invite going out week of Labor Day
- Video updated
- Radio getting updated and new flight running 9/17-9/30
- Home show volunteers still needed
- Promo items ordered and coming for fall season
- DSA/LAA meeting coming soon (Chris will contact Dora and Nelson)
Marking Standards Update
- Whitelining has been excepted as a best practice
- There may be interest in an MGH-produced collateral piece about the marking standards if approved by
the subscribers and Title XII group
- Title XII group meets on 9/5
- Subscribers on 9/19
FIOS Update
- No updates available
- Nelson said he’d provide later in the week
- Nelson opened the Verizon training sessions to other stakeholder groups
811 Tracking
- Nelson asked how 811 calls are being tracked
- Tom explained how it’s done/li>

- Chris explained the homeowner focus of the 811 campaign

- Mark Hamrick (Verizon) asked about when the 10-day window for ticket updates begins (10 days from the initial
call/ITIC or 10 days from clear to work)
- Tom Baldwin (BGE) cited Title XII as saying it’s 10 days from the initial call/ITIC (12.1.08)
- Discussion will continue at Subscribers Meeting
- Mark Hamrick (Verizon) addressed the need to initial marks by subscriber name, especially for telecommunications.
- This was cited by many as a best practice, and many subscribers instruct their locators to do this.
- Scott Brown (Washington Gas) emphasized the need to stay ahead of the Pipeline Act. He cited a recent bill he received
for poorly marked lines in DC.
- Dennis (Pleasants Construction) addressed several problems he’s continuing to have in the communications process with
locators and facility owners (poorly marked lines, bills arriving despite his effort to resolve before that
stage, etc.).
- Tom Baldwin emphasized the need for developers to plan better up front to avoid some of the problems Dennis is
dealing with.

Upcoming Meetings:
The next Maryland/DC Damage Prevention meeting is scheduled for September 25, 2007 at the Miss
Utility Center. Coffee and donuts will be served at 9:00 am. The meeting will begin at 9:30 am.
The 2007 Maryland/DC Subscribers meeting will be held September 19th and December 6th at the Miss Utility Center. Coffee and donuts will be served at 8:30 am, and the meeting will begin at 9:00 am.
There being no further business to be brought before the committee, the meeting was adjourned at 11:15 am.
